1. Look for the most hydrating tinted moisturizer or foundation; the dewy formulas are less likely to settle into crinkles than a powder or matte formula. Look for ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, petrolatum, and glycerin, which ensure a creamy consistency. Try Avon Anew Age Transforming Foundation ($16; avon.com), Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals Foundation ($46; janeiredaledirect.com), or Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm ($50; bobbibrowncosmetics.com).
  2. Scale back on face powder, which can easily build up and make fine lines more noticeable. Instead, apply only a light dusting of loose powder to “set” your makeup.
  3. Rethink your blush. You may no longer need to place blush and bronzer higher on your cheekbones to contour and slim your face. Sweeping it directly onto the apples of your cheeks will look more natural now.
  4. Experiment. Now is the time to try different shades, such as a pop of a pink lipstick or blush, to complement your newly svelte self. Try Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushing Nude ($8; walgreens.com), Neutrogena MoistureShine Soothing LipSheers SPF 20 in Plum Kiss ($9; drugstores), or L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Mica ($10; drugstores).  Bobbi Brown is a celebrity makeup artist, CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and the author of five beauty books.
