Alabaster types should choose bronzer with a touch of peach or pink, while medium tones need a hint of orange. Seek a red brown for dark complexions, and very dark skin gets a convincing glow with a slightly blue tone. Powder formulas are easiest to correct if you go overboard. Try Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder ($33; bobbibrowncosmetics.com) or Maybelline New York Expert Wear Bronzer ($6; drugstores).

Step 2. Ace application.   Use a large, flat brush–the even bristles pick up slightly less powder, allowing for buildable color control. Swirl it around the bronzer, blow off excess, and sweep from the apples of your cheeks up toward your temples. Dust lightly over your forehead, nose, and chin (this color should be faint, so no need to reload).

Step 3. Add a bit of blush.   A rosy pink on the apples of your cheeks gives a beautiful outdoorsy radiance. Use powder blush, which will blend best. Try Philosophy the Supernatural You Make Me Blush Duo ($25; philosophy.com), a clever blush-bronzer combo.

BOBBI SAYS A bronzy glow is my favorite year-round look. Remember, the goal is to warm up your face, so if the color looks too dark or orange, try a lighter shade, or mix the brush in face powder to dilute the intensity.
