[sidebar]To make matters worse, bacteria in the mouth produce more sulfur compounds—a primary ingredient of bad breath—when they mix with high-protein foods, says Paul Bussman, DDS, a dentist and spokesperson for the Academy of General Dentistry.  To beat halitosis:

Drink lots of water to help wash away sulfur compounds. Brush your teeth and floss after every meal. A tongue scraper can help remove particles that lodge at the back of the tongue, a prime sulfur-producing spot. Chew sugarless gum or suck on a sugarless lozenge. The flavoring helps mask odor.
